Jovan Dewitt

Defensive Coordinator, St. Norbert College

 

Jovan Dewitt is the defensive coordinator for St. Norbert College. Prior to that he was the defensive coordinator at Northern Michigan University in 2004-05.

 

Dewitt was a four-time letter winner at NMU from 1993-96. He was a two-time All-MIFC selection as he was the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1996.

 

He was invited to the New Orleans Saints camp in the summer of 1997.  He played three years in the Arena Football League with the Iowa Barnstormers (1997), the Orlando Predators (1998) and the Fargo Freeze (1999) in the AFL II.

 

He began his coaching career as a student assistant defensive line coach at NMU in 1997.  As G.A. at NMU in 2000-01 he coached the running backs and was the academic coordinator. In 2002 he was the offensive coordinator at Ft. Scott Community College in Kansas. In 2003 he became the offensive, special teams and academic coordinator at Fairmont State College in West Virginia.

 

He graduated from NMU in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics. Dewitt and wife Lisa have a daughter, Maya.
